Melissa floated to The Baby Place on multiple occasions to assist in postpartum. Every time she comes to our unit, she is eager and willing to jump in and help wherever possible. Floating can be intimidating and uncomfortable when it is not a unit you are used to, but Melissa made the most of the shift by being flexible, positive, and being open-minded to learn something new. She was very compassionate with the moms, making them feel at ease. I was taking care of several babies one night, and while she was responsible for the moms, she repeatedly asked if I needed assistance and if she could help with the babies in any way. She went above and beyond any expectations of a float nurse. With her positive attitude and team-oriented mindset, she is the perfect candidate for the DAISY Award.
