Even when not in scrubs and in dress clothes and heels, when a patient was in need, she showed our staff that patients are always the priority no matter what your position.
This RN Leader was on our unit today to present a DAISY Award to another nurse. After the award was given and she was about to leave, we suddenly had a patient who was found unresponsive with a heart rate in the 20s.
This Leader tossed her purse down and ran to the room with me and our charge nurse and helped us work the code until our MET team arrived. I cannot tell you how much we appreciated this from her. As a prior trained ICU Nurse, she was a wonderful help and I wanted to make sure she was recognized for helping during a critical moment without hesitation. In my opinion, this is a true demonstration of our values and mission here at CAMC and I cannot say enough how much we appreciate her and everything she is doing to represent nursing in her new administrative role.
