Melissa goes above and beyond for families who are patients of the Foulk Road office. Recently she was walking to her own car at the end of a long workday when she noticed a mother and her young child seemingly stranded outside the office. The sun was going down and the weather was chilly. The office was getting ready to close but the family's pre-arranged ride hadn't arrived to pick them up. Melissa was able to provide warmer clothing from the office's donation supplies. Mom's cell phone was critically low on battery; she didn't have much time or resources to determine another course of action. Melissa wisely asked mom to write down key phone numbers from her contact list just before her phone lost power. Then they were able to use Melissa's personal phone to secure another transportation arrangement. It turned out that the transportation vendor had a totally wrong address, so the driver was being directed to Faulkland Rd rather than Foulk Rd. Through Melissa's quick thinking and discretionary effort, they were able to problem-solve and work out a solution for the parent to use the ride service. Melissa waited with the mother and child until a safe ride arrived for them to be taken home. Melissa would have done the same for anyone any day regardless of the hour or climate. This is just one small example of the impact her support has on her patients every day. She is an exceptionally compassionate person I am grateful to work with her.
