Melissa West is deserving of this DAISY Award. Melissa has worked with me in Outpatient Infusion for the last five years. She has shown to be a professional, knowledgeable, and caring nurse who consistently goes above and beyond for both her patients and coworkers. Melissa is the first one to work on most days, preparing for the day and for the care of our patients. She willingly volunteers to work when her coworkers are sick or need time off even at the last minute and is effectively able to communicate her needs and seek coverage for shifts she may need off. She develops key relationships by being easy to approach and is well-liked by all of her peers from nursing to pharmacy to housekeeping. She treats all with respect and value. Melissa is the first to offer a helping hand in our daily workload and is a true team player. She is a reliable resource for our students and orienting nurses and guiding them with care and knowledge. Her professionalism and excellent critical thinking skills make her an invaluable asset in a crisis situation which she has demonstrated several times.
