I came to the Emergency Room and found out that my lung had a hole and was collapsing. I was so terrified, and I did not want the doctor to put a tube in until my husband could get here. The doctor talked me into doing it since my husband couldn't get here for a while.
This very sweet nurse, Melody Martin, was there by my side the entire time. I am a healthy woman who doesn't have health issues, so being so scared was an understatement. She held my hand the whole way through and never left my side. After the chest tube was in everyone left the room so I can rest, other than the doctor. Melody was the only one who stopped back by to check on me.
When I had no one, Melody gave me strength, hope, and peace when I needed it the most. She came back to make sure I was ok. I will always remember that sweet smile and voice. She is an angel and such a wonderful nurse. It isn't always about medicine as much as it is about being supportive of someone who is afraid and alone.
