November 2024 Honoree
Melody Winslow, RN
My son was born at SRMH and was found to have GI tract abnormalities that required a transfer to UCSF. The staff pediatrician called to arrange transport but was told that all transport teams (ambulance and REACH flights) were occupied and we would have to wait till morning. However, Melody was working in the NICU and found out about the situation. She called her connections at REACH and arranged a team for our son within an hour.
Melody flew with him down to CHO, where he was able to undergo further work that evening, which led to uncovering the need for urgent surgery, which he was able to have within 24 hours of being born. The whole team of L&D and NICU nurses were so kind and supportive and really made our experience so much better under the circumstances. I would also like to thank K and D, who were working with us that evening who discovered the abnormality in a timely matter and provided excellent care to our whole family.

Thank you, Melody, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
