She is just a wonderful human being who chose the right profession.
Recently we had a patient who had arrived for a procedure alone, having spent the night prior in a motel room. The patient planned to return to the hotel room and spend the night of his procedure there. Unfortunately, he needed to have surgery requiring him to stay for a long period of time. He was worried about his belongings and finding a way to check out of the motel. Melony spent a lot of time making many phone calls to the motel staff and management. Ultimately, Melony went to the motel after her shift, packed up the patients' belongings, and brought them back to the hospital for the patient. She is frequently recognized by patients and families as someone who does a great job. Melony is respectful of all patients who come through our doors. She frequently takes time out of her personal life to help patients and families meet all their needs. She is honest and humble. She is just a wonderful human being who chose the right profession. Melony ensures all her patients are comfortable, respects their privacy and dignity, and ensures they are clean and comfortable. When patients arrive who haven't been bathed, she takes the time to ensure they are clean and have their mouth care done before they go to any procedure. She keeps the patient's environment clean. She loves people, and it shows in everything she does. Melony treats all her patients and co-workers with dignity and respect. She is always advocating for her patients to receive the proper care. She is confident in her care, and her stature exudes confidence as she approaches her patients and is always cognizant of her surroundings, making sure she protects their privacy (in a setting where people don't have a lot of privacy). As families wait for their loved ones who are in a procedure, Melony will often facilitate updating them on the progress and reassuring them as needed.
