In December of 2022 my boyfriend underwent a total colectomy. Recently, he underwent his second surgery for his jpouch creation. Soon after, he started to decline. He was in and out of consciousness, drain was producing way too much output, had to get an NG tube. Along with his physical health declining, so was his mental health. He couldn’t advocate for himself or communicate more than a few words. Menah was a gift sent from heaven. She was at his bedside pretty much all day. She listened to all of my concerns and pestered doctors to come back up and take a look, even though they said everything was normal. It was in fact not normal. He went back down for surgery to remove a pelvis filled with clots. Without her amazing bedside manner and attentiveness to my concerns who knows how much he would have declined before the doctors came back up. The days following she would come in and check up on him and help him with anything he needed, even though she was not his assigned nurse. She deserves so much more than this award, but it is the one way i can thank her for her amazing work. She made this hospital stay bearable and eased my anxiety tremendously. She is the type of nurse that you would want all others to learn from.
