Nurse Mercedes is amazing, awesome, caring, compassionate, and available when needed the most. We all have a calling in life and Nurse Mercedes is in her calling. She is everything a nurse should be. Now I will detail to you how Nurse Mercedes demonstrated compassion and definitely made a special connection with me. To be honest, I do not have enough room to write all the things I would like to write, so I will write the most important moments that really impacted my life.

First of all, I came to the hospital because I relapsed 2 months ago and tried to commit suicide. I guess Nurse Mercedes read my chart and every time she worked, she would stop and speak words of encouragement about my life and speak life into my life.

My nephew was killed in a car accident recently and I was hurting. Nurse Mercedes came to me as soon as her shift started and told me that the first shift had given 2nd shift a report about my nephew dying. As she spoke to me, I felt her compassion and I knew it was genuine. I know staff aren’t allowed to share their faith, but I asked Nurse Mercedes to pray for me and she did. Every time I needed a word of encouragement, or I needed to be lifted up emotionally, she was always there. I wish all nurses were like Nurse Mercedes. She is an AWESOME example of what a nurse should be like. Nurse Mercedes is a true DAISY Nurse.
