My son came into the NICU after being born at 26 weeks. Mercedes was his nurse the first night he was here and has been his nurse pretty regularly. She has done such a great job with him. As a parent, it’s hard to trust the well-being of your child with anyone let alone a premature baby. But there is no one I would trust more than Mercedes. She has taken care of him and us as his parents when we come in. She’s always up to date and very well informed with everything going on with him and does a great job at informing us and narrating as she does his cares to help keep us at ease. On top of that she has on multiple occasions found or made creative little souvenirs for us to take home and mark every milestone on his journey. In my mind Mercedes exemplifies everything a nurse in her unit should be professional, passionate, well-informed, and caring not only for my son but for me as his parent.
