During a particularly challenging situation, we were having great difficulty placing a Foley catheter in a patient. Despite multiple attempts and consultations, we had reached a point of frustration and concern for the patient’s safety and comfort. Mercelyn immediately stepped in to help. She stayed calm, supportive, and resourceful, and with her assistance, we were able to place the catheter successfully.

What stood out most was her compassion toward the patient and her teamwork with the providers. She kept the patient comfortable and reassured while also helping us problem-solve. Her dedication, skill, and kindness made a meaningful difference that day, and she exemplifies the qualities of an extraordinary nurse.
