The patient was admitted three days prior to the student arriving for clinicals with Ulcerative Colitis (UC). According to the progress notes made by the patient's physician, the patient was to be on Ciproflaxacin 250mg PO to treat the UC. However, this order was not reflecting on the medication administration record (MAR), or in the history of medications that had been reconciled. The student notified the primary nurse who then called the physician for clarification. The primary nurse was excited that the student found the oversight and informed the nursing instructor. The patient was immediately started on the medication.
