I arrived at Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital on a Sunday morning after my water broke earlier at home. This was my second delivery, so I felt confident that everything was going to go smoothly. However, my labor was not progressing in textbook fashion, and by late Monday morning, the baby still had not arrived. I had a very strong desire to deliver as naturally as possible and was determined to make that happen. Many nurses and the two physicians attending to my care during my stay all gave me the impression that my birth plan was not going to go as hoped. That was until Meredith stepped in. As my blessings would have it, Meredith’s shift started that Monday afternoon. She immediately saw that I was losing hope and truly understood that I had a solid yearning for things to turn in a different direction. She engaged the charge nurse and between the two of them, they coached me through getting my baby to arrive exactly how I had wished. I will forever be thankful for Meredith. Her quick thinking, strong skill set, and confidence in her ability make her truly unmatched in her work. She is an outstanding nurse and an incredible person. Thank you, Meredith, for everything you do!
