Meredith Olafson, ADN, RN

I want to nominate Meredith and the staff of the Outpatient ECT department for their compassionate nursing care for my husband during his ECT treatments. On his first visit for his ECT treatment, he was extremely anxious and nervous about the procedure and outcomes. Meredith spent a lot of time with him explaining, educating, and reinforcing the expectations and outcomes they were hoping for. Being a nurse myself this was all new to me and I was extremely anxious as well. Meredith developed a caring, meaningful relationship with my husband and me over the month and a half he was receiving treatments which I know made him feel comfortable about coming to the hospital to receive his treatments. I believe it is so important to develop that relationship of trust and concern for the patient as Meredith did. Meredith is a kind, caring, empathetic person, who genuinely loves what she does. Meredith also gave positive encouragement to the changes and improvements she noticed at every visit. I can't stress enough how wonderful Meredith and the staff are at the ECT outpatient Dept. You truly are the best and are so deserving of this award. Sanford should be very proud of the work that you do daily.
