I need to start with some background first. My wife and I lost our first baby near the day he was supposed to be born. We were at Mercury way and they told us the horrible news and told us to hurry over to the hospital. When we showed up at the hospital from Mercury Way (where we found out the bad news), we were obviously hysterical, and my wife's BP was extremely high (something like 210/140). Our nurse was Meredith, who met us with complete compassion and sympathy. She kept my wife calm and, most importantly, ALIVE. My wife was beyond, and I was a mess. I cannot say enough about Meredeth and how extremely centered she was with us both. I wanted all eyes on my wife as I was 100% concerned about her at that point. Meredith cared for us both somehow. Meredith was our advocate. She got to know my wife and I and knew exactly what she needed. She kept her comfortable as well as calm as possible. She made our worst nightmare a much better experience than we could have ever imagined possible. She kept telling us stories about how she knew of the same situations happening to other parents who then had a successful birth later in their lives.

The same thing happened to us as we finally were successful in having our first baby nearly 2 years later. Meredith was again our RN, and she was amazing. She remembered everything my wife loved and made everything happen smoothly. After the first experience, she kept in contact with my wife and I making sure we were okay, all the way up to even today with our newborn. She is the most compassionate, centered, caring, nurturing, intelligent RN we have ever known. She is the greatest RN in a group of amazing people who all probably deserve this award. Meredith is the most amazing person my wife and I have ever met. She deserves the DAISY Award, and as she advocated for my wife and me, I advocate for her to get this award. She deserves a mountain of honor and respect.

She even anticipated what my wife needed (both times) and was there with exactly what my wife wanted before she had to hit the call light. I could go on and on about Meredith, but I will end it here. I am leaving out tons of things she did for us. It would all be too much to write. Please consider Meredeth for this award. It is the least we could do for her. Thank you for listening.
