When another professor became ill and sadly passed away early in the semester, Dr. Troutman-Jordan stepped in to take over the course.
I would like to nominate Dr. Troutman-Jordan because of the incredible impact she has had on me and so many other nursing students. Over the past two years, she has been my advisor, but truly so much more than that. Dr. Troutman-Jordan has always been attentive, kind, and responsive. Any time I felt frustrated or overwhelmed, she met me with encouragement and helped me refocus with a “you can do this” mindset. That kind of support makes a lasting difference. She went above and beyond to help me successfully move through my program. She didn’t just advise, she actively helped problem-solve and advocate for me.

One of the most meaningful examples of who they are as an educator came during a very difficult time for our class. When another professor became ill and sadly passed away early in the semester, Dr. Troutman-Jordan stepped in to take over the course. They immediately reached out to all of us, reassured us, and maintained clear, consistent communication. Dr. Troutman-Jordan carried us through the rest of the semester with compassion and grace during a time that was both confusing and emotional. I truly don’t know what we would have done. She is a role model and mentor in every sense. She is genuinely engaged with students and always takes the time to listen and show she cares. Dr. Troutman-Jordan brings energy and enthusiasm to teaching and focuses on what students can do, which builds confidence. She recognizes students’ strengths and invests in them. She represents everything a nurse educator should be.

The nominator went on to describe this faculty as supportive, compassionate, and deeply committed to students’ success. This student stated they are truly grateful for this educator and strongly believe they deserve the DAISY recognition.
