Thank you, Meri, for your quick thinking, your efficiency, and, most of all, treating your patient as kindly as you would a family member!
Meri treated us both like family, so very kind and most accommodating. My husband was so cold that she found a portable heater/blower and placed it between his sheets for his comfort. This was only one of her kind deeds. She went so far beyond in his care, something we appreciated so very much. Her time with us from noon until her shift ended at 7:00 pm was exceptional. We were blessed by her sweet, kind attitude and actions. She is to be commended and praised. When she told us she had only been a nurse for five years, we were shocked. She has it together in patient care for sure.

There I was, cheerfully welcomed and carefully cared for by a whole team of professional and caring ICU nurses and staff. One RN was “my nurse”. Although under her care for only her 12-hour shift, my family and I quickly became aware of her many professional and personal skills. Meri is not only good in her chosen profession she is superior in her role as a caregiver at this hospital and especially in such a complex and demanding unit as the ICU. She quickly attended to all my immediate medical and personal needs. Meeting each one with precision and professionalism. She was always knowledgeable, concerned, and quick to understand and explain all that was happening and what had happened to that point.

My husband was in ICU after being admitted through the ED with a cardiac incident. Meri was his nurse the next day. She was so cheerful and kind while also being matter-of-fact about his care. My husband became agitated and anxious because he was uncomfortable in his bed. He told me he wanted to leave AMA and to tell Meri. I went and told Meri I knew he needed to be here, but those were his wishes. Meri marched into the room with authority. She told him he could leave, but he shouldn’t. Meri gave him solid medical reasons for staying and offered solid accommodations to make him more comfortable. Such as a blow-up waffle bed cover to make his bed more comfortable. It worked! My husband felt listened to and treated well, and he settled down and stayed in the ICU until the doctor released him. Thank you, Meri, for your quick thinking, your efficiency, and, most of all, treating your patient as kindly as you would a family member!
