I would like to recognize my nurse, Mia, for the compassionate care she provided during my delivery.

I delivered my first child. That pregnancy was extremely difficult, involving gestational diabetes, domestic violence, and ultimately HELLP syndrome and placental abruption. My daughter was born sleeping at 35 weeks.

This experience deeply affected me, and when I became pregnant again in August 2025, I carried significant fear and anxiety throughout the entire pregnancy. I delayed sharing the news, struggled to attend prenatal appointments without fear, and found it difficult to feel excitement or joy.

When my husband and I arrived for my induction, I was very anxious. However, Mia immediately helped ease that anxiety with her calm and compassionate presence. She treated me with genuine kindness and made me feel safe and supported.

During my intake, I shared my previous pregnancy history with her. Later, she asked me my first daughter’s name.

That simple question meant everything to me. No one had ever asked me my daughter’s name before.

In that moment, I felt seen, and it acknowledged her existence in a way that was deeply healing. It showed me that my daughter mattered and that my loss was not something to be avoided or left unspoken.

I am incredibly grateful for Mia’s compassion and the impact she had on my experience. She truly deserves this recognition.

Thank you, Mia A, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
