September 2020 Honoree
mia kimener, BSN, RN
Mia was the nurse who was there for me from the beginning of my stay. I was still detoxing and was experiencing pain all over and shaking, everything that comes with withdrawal. She was a kind voice who stayed calm and was comforting despite my attitude or rude behavior; however, she remained consistent. She saw my angry side and my good side, but no matter how I acted, she treated me like a human being, not a "patient." I felt very comfortable talking to her about personal issues pertaining to my care. I think it is people like her that really shape the image of health "care", especially mental health.
Thank you, Mia, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
