Not only does she have an excellent bedside manner, but she also genuinely cares about patient advocacy.
I had a very traumatic labor and postpartum process with our first child at a different hospital and was very nervous coming into this labor. However, every staff member was super helpful and kind. From the 10+ congratulations from random strangers ranging from environmental staff members to RNs, it genuinely felt like we were being congratulated. Someone who went above and beyond was Mrs. Mia Short.

She has such a motherly and friendly nature that she made our experience so pleasant. Not only does she have an excellent bedside manner, but she also genuinely cares about patient advocacy. I can recall countless examples of this… From the small to the big things — it was 2:45 pm, and she personally called food services to make sure food got to our room. She also made sure to teach us about lactation services (what to ask about, how to start the foundations) before the consultant came. When we found out that our child had a murmur, she spent extra time listening to our child and reassuring us. She was very intentional in caring for me as the mother as well. She remembered from the prior day how I liked my water (without ice), she made sure I had plenty of snacks/prune juice (to not be constipated) and went out of her way (even after her shift hours) to give us advice on baby sleep.

I have a lot of pregnant friends who are debating which hospital to deliver at— I have already raved about Northside Forsyth to friends, social media and complete strangers. Mia Short is one of the strongest reasons why I would, without hesitation, attribute this to. My family is eternally grateful to her and this entire hospital. You all have made this laboring and postpartum experience a completely different process— it has made such an impression on our lives. Thank you so much.
