I was at AMC for over 14 hours as my husband had surgery to remove a second brain tumor. As I crossed the foot bridge to get some dinner at Panera then make my way back to the Hilton. I was very disoriented and visually crying. A lot of people passed me by as I stood there but this wonderful nurse stopped as she was making her way to the garage and asked if I was ok and needed help. Through tears, I told her I didn’t remember how to get to Panera to get some soup to take back to the hotel. She kindly calmed me down, walked to Panera then told me how to get to the Hilton through the garage. She asked what room my husband was in and would visit me tomorrow to be sure I was ok. I was so pleasantly surprised when she came to the neurosurgery unit to see if I was ok and say hello to my husband. I told my husband she was my angel last night and guided me in the right direction. Not many people take the time to help a stranger in distress especially when they are trying to make their way home after a long shift but this incident will stay with me always. She is truly extraordinary!
