Michael was a Godsend and we are all so thankful for his diligence in uncovering this heart condition and then urgently seeking out the proper care for our mom.
Our 78-year-old mother was a patient on the 6th floor for only two days. She has never had anything major wrong with her always been in good health, so when she came in with pancreatitis, we were very scared and worried due to the amount of pain she was in along with the unknown of what was going to happen next. Michael was so gentle, kind, and very empathetic. He was so attentive to Mom’s every need. We have never experienced such care and kindness from a nurse in the past. He always used our mom’s name and was constantly keeping us in the know for each test we had questions or concerns about. He was so patient and even though we know he had several other patients, he always made Mom feel special and important. Never in a rush, like she was the only one.
Due to Michael’s diligence, he noticed Mom’s heart rate jumping all over the place. He checked it manually and then with two different machines to make sure the reading he was getting was accurate. It was. Her heart rate had never done that, and she has no history of A. Fib but that’s exactly what was happening. Michael immediately notified the doctor and went and got a portable EKG to have the results sent to the 3rd floor. They confirmed A. Fib. She then had an EKG test done to be certain and mom was moved that night to the cardiac floor. Michael was a Godsend and we are all so thankful for his diligence in uncovering this heart condition and then urgently seeking out the proper care for our mom. Michael, without a doubt, went above and beyond the call of duty. Michael gave extraordinary care to our mom along with all of the patients that come along his floor
