We nominate Mike for a DAISY Award at Columbia Memorial Hospital's main Astoria building. My husband had surgery this morning, and decades of diabetes have made starting IVs on him very painful. We always ask the nurse to take their time to make this as comfortable as possible. Mike used a lot of lidocaine and gave it time to numb his arm. My husband hardly felt the IV insertion and is very grateful that Mike was patient, thoughtful, understanding, gentle, and even willing to put up with his silly jokes. Thank you.
