I am writing to nominate an exceptional nurse here at Corewell Health East – FH! This individual’s unwavering commitment to patient’s care and extraordinary compassion truly sets them apart.

Mike Cooley consistently goes above and beyond. He continuously volunteers to help his fellow nurses with difficult line placements and complicated tasks. He serves as an exceptional leader by inspiring and educating nurses who are just starting their career. But most importantly, he seeks out opportunities for personal growth and has a strong desire to improve himself each and every day.

As an intern resident, learning to speak to families and deliver heartbreaking news is a difficult process. Prior to walking into a waiting room full of tearful family members awaiting anxiously the news I was about to deliver, Mike told me he was going to accompany me, so I was not alone in this difficult task. He did this without being asked, just out of the goodness of his heart. He provided support and comfort to each family member, along with making sure that I was okay. I will forever be grateful for his dedication to his patients, their families, and our healthcare team.

I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this award!
