December 2015 Honoree
michael lowe, RN, BSN
My father-in-law had a heart-bypass at another hospital and unfortunately has had a few complications leading to a necessary admission to a skilled nursing facility until he can be more independent. His health problems have been burdensome but manageable. Today was another setback as he needed transport to evaluate for possible infection. Not only is he tired of being out of his norm and frustrated at his current poor health, but now he found himself annoyed! His language was foul, his attitude even worse.
His nurse Mike Lowe was so compassionate and extremely patient. I can understand why someone could or would lack patience with someone who cuses at them, scratches at them, tells them to go away and in general be rude and ugly, but not Mike! He stayed calm, peaceful, professional, and compassionate. Mike's compassion and professional care, earns him the DAISY Award!

Thank you, Michael, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
