My son was moved to 2South for continued post-surgical care where he remains as of today. His primary nurse during the day has been 2LT Michael Nebriaga. He was wonderful, ensuring A's needs were met. He was quick to establish a strong rapport with A and helped him to understand how to best manage his pain. I know other wonderful team members have also helped A, but Michael stood out.
I have been in many medical facilities over the years and interacted with countless medical team members. I have never encountered someone as special as 2LT Michael Nebriaga. He went above and beyond in his efforts to ensure that A understood what was going on with every step of his care. He also advocated for A through his pain management. I realize that my son has been a bit challenging during his stay, yet 2LT Michael Nebriaga has remained very compassionate and professional. He took time to establish a professional relationship/rapport with A and was able to help A understand why he couldn't always get what he wanted with pain meds. He was able to get A to agree and support the decisions of the medical team, even when such decisions were not what A had initially wanted. This took time, time that many in the medical profession do not take. His genuine care for A's wellbeing has been truly remarkable.
There is a very special culture among the nursing team on 2 South. Everyone has been exceptionally helpful and patient. They all take the extra time to ensure the patients understand what is going on and that they have what they need. This culture is not the norm in many medical facilities. You are all doing something right at Madigan!
