Michael is a consummate professional. He is deeply passionate about advocating for his patients. He is recognized by his peers, patients and their families for his attitude of nurse servant. Daily we watch him give himself completely to his patients and their families. Recently, we watched him advocate for his patient. His patient had been hospitalized for an extended period of time. The patient was receiving life-saving support but was awake and fully conscious of his surroundings. He advocated mobilizing the patient who was intubated on his first trip out of the bed in many weeks. He created a plan, assembled a team, partnered with the patient and took him outside. The sight was amazing and one I will never forget. He went above and beyond as he does every day. This day he impacted every single person who observed the herculean effort required to take the patient outside. For him, he is just doing his job. He took a man outside because he really wanted to go.
