Michael Petrich, ED Case Manager, went above and beyond to verify the patient’s living situation before discharge. When the room and board facility the patient had come from failed to respond to phone calls, Mike took the extra step of contacting the local police department to conduct a welfare check. Upon arrival, the police found the home empty and marked with a "For Sale" sign. Thanks to Mike’s compassion and diligence, he prevented a special needs patient from being sent to a nonexistent residence, potentially avoiding a dangerous situation.
