Michael Quinn was nominated by a co-worker for demonstrating the "heart" of Franciscan nursing to her and to a patient. Michael realized that his coworker was from another clinical area and reached out to make her feel welcome and supported. His interactions with the patient are summed up this way in the nomination:
"His passion and compassion were such a calming presence in the room. He made it feel like the patient was his only patient and he had all the time in the world to comfort her. Mike not only inspired me with his compassion, but he made an impact on a previously difficult patient to connect with. I feel that his care epitomizes the spirt of nursing care."
