I want to nominate Mike for his exceptional help with one of my patients on 2E. We had a patient in the observation room who was really starting to decline, and I called him in for support. It ended up being a much more intense situation than any of us thought but Mike was a huge support to me. He brought his knowledge and expertise, he empowered and encouraged me as I dealt with a situation new to me, and he comforted the family that had to watch. Throughout the shift, the patient was not responding well to our treatment, but Mike helped me talk things through, made me feel competent, and supported me as we had to advocate for our patient to go to ICU. In the end, she did go upstairs but ended up passing away. When I found out the news, Mike happened to be on the floor. It was comforting to talk things out again and remember that we did all that we could. Thank you, Mike, for all you did that day. Your presence and support are what helped get us all through.
