August 2017 Honoree
michael stoner, RN
I had double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. This is a very painful operation that makes any movement, simple as sitting up in bed or using the restroom, extremely exhausting and painful.
And then came Michael Stoner. A nurse committed to caring for people. His level of professionalism and compassion blew me away! He took the time to explain everything that was going on, why it was important, how it might affect me and what to do if it did. The first time I needed to use the restroom on his shift he was gentle and assisted me out of bed, and then back into bed, and then he taught my husband how to assist me at home. Later during the night when I was in extreme pain Michael took the time and listened to me. He quickly involved the House Supervisor and a call was made to my surgeon so that my meds could be increased to alleviate the pain. Michael made me feel like I was the only patient he had and when he said he would be right back, he was. Michael is a true DAISY Nurse.
