I was very impressed with Nurse Mike
From a Veteran:
I recognize Mike Tampieri, who I refer to as “Nurse Mike,” for his outstanding devotion to supporting and taking care of the VA patients with whom he comes into contact as he does his job.
I had been having difficulty finding out where my Doctor’s office is located. I found myself having just completed an in-person meeting with a VA general surgeon, and I did not think that I would be able to safely make it home to have the scheduled telehealth meeting with my Doctor. Since I was already at the Seattle VA hospital’s campus, I thought it would be a good idea to just find my Doctor’s office so that I could see her for my appointment, in person; after all, she and I had never actually met in person. Sadly, none of the VA employees with whom I spoke and asked for directions from were really inclined to exert very much effort to help me in my quest; and, this was a cruel irony since I knew how to spell my Doctor’s name, and these VA employees had computer terminals in front of them that they could have easily used to help me in my search. But, I digress.
In my thinking about the issue at hand, I remembered that I had the phone number for Nurse Mike, and I was fortunate to reach him and have him provide me with easy directions to get to my Doctor’s office; and, he was also good enough to inform my Doctor that I would be coming in for my appointment in person rather than doing it through the telehealth platform. I am happy to report that it was quite easy for me to make my appointment, and I believe that my Doctor thought that the in-person meeting was beneficial, as did I.
I told my Doctor that I was very impressed with Nurse Mike and how well he does his job of helping me every time I reach out to him. It has always been a positive event to deal with Nurse Mike, and his great help stood out that day in sharp contrast to the other VA employees to whom I had reached out for help. So, I wanted to make sure that someone took the time to recognize how valuable Nurse Mike is to helping the VA accomplish its mission. He is a stellar example of a committed VA employee who looks out for the best interests of the VA patients and the VA mission. Nurse Mike does valuable work and he is a shining example to all VA employees of what the goal of each of them should be. Nurse Mike is a fantastic support to me and, I would imagine that my fellow veterans who come into contact with him would agree.
