I am honored to be able to know and nominate a nurse who is the definition of Northwell and is the DAISY Award within Pediatrics. This individual has a devotion to her role and patience like no other I have ever seen before. Their dedication to our patients is shown every single day, no matter what. One day, we had a mother call looking for an appointment for her child, who has severe autism because he was struggling with ear pain. Without a second thought, this nurse got on the phone and told Mom to come right in. As soon as they came in, our nurse graciously stopped what she was doing to bring the patient and their mother right in and was able to calm our patient and ease his anxiety by just being herself. This is how this nurse is at work every single day; they could be going through the worst, and our patients would never know because of how kind, patient, and thoughtful this nurse is. The core values of the DAISY Award are compassionate care, clinical excellence, and genuine commitment to patients' well-being, which is what this nurse encompasses. Northwell prides itself in its culture of excellence and empathy, which is why I genuinely believe this nurse deserves the DAISY award to honor their exceptional work within our community.
