Today, when I came to visit my husband, D, I was focusing on his deficits. Michele said, "D and I have already discussed this. We are going to focus on the positives." And then she proceeded to list them.

I needed this reminder that so many good things are happening for D. It was a mind and attitude reset for me and really good for him to hear.

My husband D had had brain surgery to clean out a staph infection on the previous Saturday. Michelle was one of his nurses on Tuesday after that. Then, she was his nurse again on Wednesday. On Tuesday, she saw how well he was recovering, sitting up, socializing, and eating.

And then, after lunch, he became overwhelmingly tired and developed a headache. She monitored him closely and communicated her concerns to the team member talking over for her. The following morning, D needed to have brain surgery again to clear out the infection. She really paid such close attention and had she not, his infection may have ‘blown up’ in him.
