Michele Steier will perform any of the duties needed in the surgical departments. Whether being the staff nurse, the nurse on-call, working in Endoscopy or the Operating Room, assisting in C-Sections, RN always maintains a positive, active role in their area of expertise. Her clinical knowledge is only surpassed by the calm, quiet, compassionate demeanor while caring for patients at the bedside. No matter what chaos they just dealt with, the patient is never aware of more than the calming soft voice and the obvious willingness to comfort them on their surgical journey.
When Michele is not doing direct patient care, or relieving staff for breaks and lunches, you may find her cleaning stretchers in the outpatient department if that is needed. Michele is the grease that keeps the wheel of patient care turning. She is amazing. Her attitude is always positive and it appears that no task is beneath her to complete.
Michele is personally humble, has extraordinary work ethic and is passionate about the position she holds. She is a true role model for all those that work with her. She always has a kind word, a smile and a contagious sense of humor that is so appreciated in a stressful environment.
Patience for her 87-year-old patient; Michele personally spoke to Anesthesiologist for more pain management. Upon going to pick up patient on Acute Care Unit, a Priest was at patient's bedside. As other RNs urged to facilitate the patient's transfer to surgery, Michele calmly stated "This part (spirituality) is very important! We can wait as long as necessary - we never rush when the patient/priest are praying." After 25 minutes the priest had finished, patient smiled and thanked the nurses. All went well. His family was so grateful as well!
