Before I took T home on hospice, I noticed she was wearing a necklace that said, “HOPE”, which belonged to Michelle. She told me she wore it for her own difficult situation.
I will start off by saying my wife was admitted after dropping at the gym. She was rushed to Lakeview ICU where she stayed for 10 days, and ultimately passed in our home 2 days later. While we were at the hospital, there was an amazing staff who was there for me during those very difficult days and nights. T was in a coma the entire time with severe brain damage at only 38 years old. Those days were the most brutal of my life, but Michelle made my nights at the hospital with T bearable. First off, I could tell she was invested in my wife’s positive potential outcome. We didn’t get that outcome, but I felt the concern, compassion, kindness, and love from her during those long nights. I feel like she was my angel during this time, gently assisting me through the most difficult experience of my life. We spent the nights talking about T, our wonderful relationship, and the hard realities of the situation. She shared her own difficult stories that she had experienced, and she was everything I needed to get myself through this. Before I took T home on hospice, I noticed she was wearing a necklace that said, “HOPE”, which belonged to Michelle. She told me she wore it for her own difficult situation. It was an extreme act of kindness that meant everything to me, and I will always love and appreciate everything Michelle did for me. She is an extraordinary human being!
