My mother was in the PACU. Her breathing seemed "congested" per Michelle. She provided oxygen and advocated for further orders from the physician. Michelle would not be pressured to advance my Mom to Phase 2 for concern of her decreasing oxygen sats despite oxygen, positioning, and proper pain meds. Michelle kept my father notified at appropriate intervals.
The PACU stay was greater than 4 hours due to Michelle's diligence. Ultimately my mother was recovered in the hospital on oxygen. Michelle made a difference. She had patient safety in mind the entire time. Additionally, she was so friendly, accessible (meaning she spoke at my dad's level when needed and then medically when she was speaking with me) and just generally amazing.
