Michelle was the perfect nurse for me. She was confident, compassionate, and empowering!
My story starts in June of 2018, with the birth of my first baby. My water broke at home, and I was instructed to head to labor and delivery. Michelle was my nurse when I arrived at Boone. She asked me what my pain management plan was for the birth, and I told her that I really wanted to try and have the baby without an epidural. I was worried that I would have a nurse that maybe wasn't as supportive of a non-epidural birth...but Michelle was the opposite.

I could go on and on, but to keep it short, Michelle was the perfect nurse for me. She was confident, compassionate, and empowering! I trusted her to the point where I felt myself looking to her for assurance when anyone else would ask me a question. As a first-time mom, I had the best experience, and I attribute much of that to Michelle!

Fast forward to June 2020. I was scheduled to be induced with my second baby. I had a lot of anxiety about being induced and the pandemic did not help anything. I told my husband how I hoped and prayed that I would have Michelle as my nurse again! When the hospital called to give me instructions on my induction, I asked if requesting a nurse was an option and asked for Michelle. I laughed at myself because to me Michelle played such a huge role in my journey into motherhood, but I thought "she helps deliver babies every day, she doesn't even know who I am! Ha!" The lady told me that she thought Michelle worked nights, but that she would put a note in. I was bummed, and I didn't think much else about it, since I knew I would be having a daytime delivery.

Induction day arrived and I was ANXIOUS! They checked me in, and I waited in the room for the nurse to come in. A little time went by, and I heard the door open and saw Michelle walk around the corner! I was excited, and slightly calmed! She had come in to start my IV before her shift ended. I asked her to get me a nurse that was most like her-hah! Michelle gave the new nurse the rundown on me, and I was so impressed that she remembered certain details from my birth 2 years prior! I wanted to again try without an epidural, and my new nurse made it happen. I truly just cannot go on enough about how great Michelle was for both of my births. Michelle was confident, compassionate, empowering, and made me feel comfortable from the minute she walked into the room!
