I received a call while working in the hospital that my son was in an accident. When I arrived at his bedside, he was unrecognizable, and Michelle Shaffer did the most extraordinary thing - she made me a part of his care team. She immediately updated me and then let me do small things to assist her. While we waited for an ultrasound and a CT scan, she held my hand and made me feel less alone.
