I will tell others of this experience and hope that more healthcare providers show the level of care and compassion that Nurse Danzy so freely gave us.
I want to thank Nurse Michelle Danzy. She definitely goes beyond the level of care that I have experienced in the past from other healthcare staff. My stepmother suffered a massive stroke leaving her unable to talk, swallow well, or move her body extremities on her right side. The family was shocked at what happened. My father and I felt helpless and scared of what to do for her. We sat quietly, dreading what we were going to do next for her or what to expect from her having a stroke.

I looked up at Danzy, who in a reassuring voice, explained to my father and me what happened and that my step-mother might be able to improve with physical therapy. We understood that there was no guarantee, but she gave us hope that she may improve. Danzy was patient and listened to all our questions. A very caring and reassuring nurse who checked back on us and my stepmother's condition. We felt not only was she doing her job as a highly-skilled nurse, but she genuinely cared as well.

Danzy came by the next day just to briefly say hi and see how we were doing even though there was a different nurse assigned to cover my step-mother. Wow, we were shocked and pleasantly surprised at the level of her concern and her attention to our needs. Management at the hospital should be aware that Michelle Danzy was a beam of light during a dreary time. My stepmother has improved and will be released from acute rehab to come home in a few days. I will tell others of this experience and hope that more healthcare providers show the level of care and compassion that Nurse Danzy so freely gave us.
