...Michelle has a gift of noticing someone with a true need and likewise meeting that need. She takes care of her patients with a personal touch and ensures they know she will go the distance for them because she truly cares. I have seen this time and time again. She has true compassion for the sick, down trodden, and poor. I have also seen her compassion and love to her co-workers.

Recently Michelle went the extra mile for a co-worker who, not only was not in our department, but who had recently retired from North. She took the time to call and visit this coworker and tried to meet her needs as best she can. She did this by connecting her with the humanitarian fund, including retrieving the paperwork from our HR and driving it to her home, then returning it so that she could try to receive the help that she needed. If this wasn't enough she also picked up and delivered her mail.

Michelle has also put so much time into caring for a patient we had in step-down and all grew to love. This patient was young, sweet, and has a child-like state of mind. Her mother worked full time and could not be at the hospital 24/7. Michelle came to be this patient's favorite nurse and the only one besides her mother that could convince her to participate in her care (ie, getting up to chair, going for tests, etc). We watched Michelle love, take care of, and cry with this patient, even on the days she was not her assigned nurse. Michelle, to this day keeps in touch with this family and even assisted them in getting into a medical trial that she had heard about.

Michelle has the gift of mercy, and she uses her gift well. We encourage her to continue even when she grows weary, ending with this verse for Michelle:

Galatians 6:9 "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."
