I would like to nominate Michelle for the care she gave to my father. He had an incredibly difficult time over a 3-month period with multiple hospitalizations in several facilities. Michelle stood out as an exceptional nurse who embodies the true spirit of a compassionate and dedicated caregiver. She consistently provided turning and care without reminders to prevent bed sores. Her empathy and understanding for our difficult journey have been incredibly meaningful. Despite my father’s inability to speak or communicate, Michelle took initiative without being asked to perform oral care, feeding, repositioning, and handling tasks she deemed necessary, caring for him as if he were her own family member. She even stayed past her shift to personally assess and dress his wounds. She gave me special tips and pointers to manage his care at home. This showed true dedication. Her compassion, commitment, and willingness to go above and beyond have made a lasting impact on our family. Michelle exemplifies what the DAISY Award represents.
