At 4 am one day, Michelle began receiving calls from the on-call surgical team. They had a surgical emergency and the nurse had never been called in before. Michelle realized that the patient with emergent needs would need her help to get to the operating room in an urgent fashion. She rushed into the hospital in her pajamas, changed into scrubs, and quickly began helping the team and therefore the patient. The outcome would have been different for this patient without her help and leadership. This had a life-saving outcome. This type of selfless behavior is amazing.
