We proudly nominate Michelle Lopes for the DAISY Award in recognition of her extraordinary compassion and clinical excellence. Recently, a man stumbled into our GYN Specialty office, covered in blood after falling on the sidewalk. He had been turned away from several other offices and only asked our front desk for a paper towel. Without hesitation, Michelle immediately brought him into an exam room, assessed his condition, and began providing care. The man was bleeding heavily due to being on blood thinners, and despite his insistence on returning to work within the hour, Michelle carefully cleaned and dressed each of his wounds, working tirelessly to control the bleeding.

When it became clear the bleeding would not stop, Michelle pleaded with him to allow her to call 911. After seeing her concern and professionalism, he finally agreed. EMTs arrived and bandaged him in the ambulance. A week later, the man returned- no longer a stranger, but a deeply grateful member of our community - bringing Michelle cookies to thank her for the kindness, urgency, and exceptional care she had given him that day. Michelle is a shining example of what it means to be a nurse: selfless, skilled, and wholeheartedly dedicated to helping anyone in need.
