She made it clear through her actions that I was not standing alone.
We had an incident where a resident attempted to sign up for a course that nolonger had availability. Although she had not waited until the last minute, a largenumber of required trainings had already filled our schedule for the next severalmonths. I replied, explained that the class she wanted was full, and offered her thesoonest available alternative. Rather than working within the established process, the situation was immediately escalated to her commander, who responded byquestioning my professionalism, my competence, and the rules under which weoperate. He then threatened to escalate the matter further if it was not resolvedpromptly. When I brought the matter to Ms. Jampolsky, she did not make me feel like I had tofend for myself. She stepped in with tact, professionalism, and calm confidence. Shehandled the situation appropriately, protected the integrity of our process, and madesure the behavior involved was seen by the right people without creatingunnecessary drama. She resolved the issue, but more importantly, she made it clearthrough her actions that I was not standing alone. That meant more to me than I can properly express. In my three years in the military, this was the first time I truly felt supported and backed by my leadership. It changedthe way I viewed her, and honestly, the way I viewed what good leadership can looklike. This is only one example of the compassion, patience, and professionalism Ms.Jampolsky brings to her job. She does not simply get things done; she makes thepeople around her feel supported while she does it. Her commitment to excellenceand the way she carries herself leave no doubt in my mind that anything shetouches will be handled with care, competence, and integrity.
