Michelle makes a point to travel to our home and visit and bathe our baby as she has a special bond with her.
To start, Michelle has done and continues to do far more than the job requires. To begin, I gave birth back in January to a very sick child who at the time we were told by all doctors and health professionals that she will not survive longer than 4 weeks and she stayed on the unit for 5 months. During this time, it was very difficult for us as parents but everything the staff did made the situation easier as they were above and beyond caring for the babies and amazing support to the parents. But Michelle did stand out, her care and encouragement were extraordinary.
The form of our baby made it extremely difficult to cuddle, handle and bathe her, but Michelle said she is a baby like no other and deserves to be treated that way. She was the one who came up with all sorts of solutions to be able to bathe her cuddle her and keep us and the baby comfortable. We are forever grateful and have the fondest memories of her on the unit even though this was a very stressful time for us. But she did not stop there, she continues to provide emotional care and advice as we are lost since our baby has come home. Shortly after our baby was discharged, she was rushed back into the hospital and was in resuscitation for approx. 18 hours. Michelle heard she was there, she took time off and rushed down to be at her side and our side emotionally as this was a painful time for us. We truly appreciate this extra step and are at a loss for words as to how we would have felt emotionally and medically if not for her being part of our lives. We really hope you understand this extra step of care Michelle has given and continues to give all babies on the unit, she definitely is a DAISY Nurse.
