Michelle deserves this DAISY award because she went above and beyond for a patient. Michelle had a patient who was being discharged to a Skilled Nursing Facility who had three cats at home that she (the patient) was very worried about. Michelle was so kind as to offer to check on the patient’s cats. Michelle went to this patient’s house and brought water, food, and litter for the cats. This helped the patient's fears so she could have a safe and needed discharge to a Skilled Nursing Facility to continue her recovery. Michelle did all of this for her patient despite her own allergies to cats. This represents Michelle as a nurse and as a person. She goes above and beyond for her patients and puts their needs above her own. She is an amazing, thoughtful, and compassionate nurse and person.
