Michelle is an extraordinary nurse and always places her patients and families at the center of her work. One patient recently commented: "I have been lucky enough to have Michelle a couple of different times when I have been at the hospital. She has been responsive to my needs and an advocate for me. She puts a smile on my face."
Michelle has a special way of making her patients and families feel comfortable in the hospital setting. She makes all patients and families feel welcome and ensures they are partners with us in providing care. Michelle is committed to not only meeting the physical needs of our patients but also the emotional needs. She is able to meet patients where they are at in their care and is incredibly patient and understanding of those patients and families who need additional support. A parent commented: "Nurse Michelle is awesome. She is very attentive, patient, sweet, kind and most of all, respectful. She has cared for my son a few times and she is always on her A game. Thank you."
Aside from being an incredible caregiver, Michelle is also a highly dependable and dedicated team member. She always comes to work with a smile and can-do attitude and is willing to jump in wherever needed. One of her peers recently gave an example of her teamwork: "It was a busy afternoon, I was orienting a new RN, and we had chemo going, requiring every 15 minutes vital signs and I had just gotten a new admit. I asked Michelle to do one set of vital signs for me. When we were headed to do the second set of 15 minute vital signs, Michelle had already done the second set. Her willingness to jump in and do those vital signs allowed us to provide safe care to our patients and also allowed the new nurse and I to spend a few minutes with our new admit. Thank you so much for your awesomeness."
Michelle is adored by her patients, families, and team. Patients and families routinely ask to have Michelle as their nurse. As I am writing this, a previous patient just came onto our unit and asked to see Michelle. She is s true DAISY Nurse.
