Michelle is constantly available to ask questions, coach staff in the moment, onboard new hires and have those crucial conversations to help guide her staff.
Michelle is an absolute blessing to the PCU. Michelle is passionate about not only safe and excellent patient care, but about her staff and co-workers as well. Michelle comes in early and often stays late to make sure she sees all staff. She takes the time to help round with patients and is a phenomenal resource to her staff. Not only does Michelle talk the talk, she walks the walk. Becoming a supervisor on a new unit can be a daunting task, let alone during the outbreak of a global pandemic, however, Michelle has thrived. She has been an amazing cheerleader for her PCU staff, helping build a strong foundation during these shaky times. Michelle has used her background as a nursing instructor to teach and offer opportunities for her staff to learn and grow.

Michelle created PCU appreciation week, and often goes out of her way to help inspire and reward her staff. She celebrates the successes and life events of her team, with her team. Her communication is clear and concise, taking the time to round with staff often. Michelle sends out a weekly newsletter to her staff, along with a ‘rhythm of the week’, to allow her staff to know critical information, and also learn various cardiac rhythms.
Last year, when Michelle broke her ankle (not at work), one of her first thoughts was of her team, and how she wanted to be on the unit helping them. An ortho consult, a boot, and a scooter later- she was literally rolling around the PCU making a positive impact on her team, and their patients. Michelle takes the time to assist with hospital-wide skills day and ICU skills. She has great communication skills and follows up with any question or concern immediately. She is an amazing asset to not only the PCU team, but all of Lakeside.
