My dad was admitted to St. Anthony's and is still currently in your care. He was admitted due to complications from stage 4 non-small cell carcinoma of the right lung. Unfortunately the cancer had already spread to several other areas prior to being diagnosed 5 months earlier.

My father has absolutely been impressed with Michelle's care she has given him. His exact words were "all hospitals should have nurses like her". I have spent many hours at the hospital since my father's admission as the doctor has indicated that the chemo treatments are not working and that from this point on it is about making him comfortable and fixing/treating what we can for however long we can. I also agree with my father's above statement regarding Michelle as I have seen several other nurses also care for him and she is a special person. I am not saying that anyone of the other nurses is not doing their job, but Michelle has many qualities beyond nurse skills that she is a fine role model. Michelle's ability to comfort and make things better is extraordinary. She does this not only by her words of encouragement but more importantly by her actions.

One can easily tell that she always has my father's best interest at heart. She is the first one to come communicate with us what the results are of any tests. Also, she explains very well what is going on and what the next steps will be based on what the doctors are telling her, and when she notices something that needs to be addressed that she cannot address herself she is "on it", she is calling whomever to get the proper things set in motion so that my father receives the best care possible and she stays on top of things and makes sure they are moving in the right direction. She has had a big impact on the way my father feels. She makes him feel comfortable and he has stated to me several times that he can tell she cares about her job and really cares about making sure he is getting the care he needs. Our family would like to say thank you to Michelle Marks for her kindness and her ability to make our loved one smile and have a positive impact on the time he has left.
